Macklemore claims nine arenas rejected his Palestine benefit concerts
Macklemore shared on Instagram the problems he faced in organizing his Free Palestine US tour. The rapper claims he is being denied nine grounds for concerts. He said, “From the beginning, our plan was to bring this tour to the US, but after several weeks of being contacted, nine major US territories turned us down.”
The rapper named all these arenas, which include Chase Center, Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, Barclays Center and UBS Arena in the New York area, Kia Forum, Intuit Dome and Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
He also revealed that these areas were open to his shows; However, when they learned about his visit they refused.
Macklemore said, “The intimidation, manipulation and repression I have experienced is part of how people in power keep entertainers quiet. It’s their main strategy to keep us in line. Shut up and dribble, or you will be punished. But at this point, I have been thinking about maintaining any relationship, business or personal, with anyone for three years who is not looking for an independent Palestine.”
The rapper said he found dates available at these arenas through the end of 2026. However, when the venue’s owners learned that the concert’s benefits were offered to Palestine, they reportedly declined.
He added, “But this is not an isolated incident. Activists, poets, writers, musicians and entertainers who have stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people for decades have suffered the consequences of doing so. Many have paid a much higher price than me.” (via just jared)
