In a secondary blow for Hollywood as the wildfire crisis consumes lives and homes, a raft of productions are being halted.
As plumes of black smoke blanket much of downtown LA, Burbank and Studio City – located next to the Sunset blaze and not far from the Pacific Palisades wildfires – productions have been shut down.
These include Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Abbott Elementary, Hacks and Suits LA among many of the TV dramas and sitcoms to press pause.

The Price Is Right and tonight shows Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS’ After Midnight have also been impacted.
Universal Studios have not only shut down the production backlot, where shows such as Happy’s Place, Loot and Ted are filmed, but also Universal Studios theme park.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be closed on Thursday, January 9 as a result of the extreme winds and fire conditions,” they announced on social media.
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Hollywood has also been temporarily shuttered, the studio announced on social media.
And it’s not just the traditional TV studios shutting production down.

Prime Video’s Fallout have reportedly pushed back their return to production following the holidays, according to Deadline.
It’s another big hit for the multi-billion dollar industry in recent years after COVID-19 delays were followed by months-long writers and actors strikes.
A number of film premieres at the peak of awards season have been called off, including The Last Showgirl, Wolf Man, Unstoppable and Better Man.
While awards shows themselves have been postponed or voting dates extended to allow for the raft of displaced members to still cast their votes.

The organisation that puts on the Oscars has extended the voting window for Academy Awards nominations by two days and delayed next week’s planned nominations announcement to January 19.
The Critic’s Choice Awards, which were due to be held on Sunday at Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport, just kilometres away from where the Pacific Palisades wildfire is raging, have been delayed until January 26. The location will remain unchanged.
