Irish star Vogue Williams has opened up about her time on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and admitted she made a ‘first mistake’ before entering the camp
Vogue Williams has confessed she made a “mistake” after signing up to I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of here!. The Irish podcast star was a late entrant to ITV’s I’m A Celeb camp last month.
She entered the show alongside TV host and Celebs Go Dating favourite Tom Read Wilson. However, Vogue became the third celebrity to be voted off, lasting 13 days in the Australian wilderness.
The 40-year-old has branded the hit programme as “mentally tough” and “physically tough”. Speaking on the S*****d, Married, Annoyed podcast, she disclosed one thing she would have approached differently given another opportunity.
She revealed: “I didn’t speak to anyone before going in, first mistake. It’s so much harder than it looks on TV, it’s wild.
“[Husband] Spenny was like, ‘Oh I read an article where they weren’t being hard enough on the celebs’, and I was like, ‘What?’ But it is a lot of fun and I have made good friends.”
Vogue continued by saying she had been messaging comedian and fellow campmate Ruby Wax following their time together on the programme. The Irish television personality participated in the popular show nine years after husband Spencer Matthews was forced to exit the series in 2016.
Spencer had acknowledged using steroid medication “‘to look good in the shower” in preparation for a charity boxing bout. Discussing the incident with the BBC afterwards, the former Made in Chelsea star called it “one of the biggest mistakes”.
He revealed: “When the reality came in that I was going home on the third day, I was just absolutely devastated. For someone that doesn’t get anxious or depressed, I felt pretty anxious and depressed. It was a bit of a dark time.”
Meanwhile, Vogue discussed her jungle experience on her My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, explaining: “You get in the car and they take your phone away.
“A lot of it is mentally tough and physically tough because mentally you never know what time it is, you never know where you’re going, because you’re always covered up. Your head is covered when you leave camp.
“It kind of adds to it because it makes it that little bit harder. I should have spoken to more people before I went in.”
The mother-of-four is no novice when it comes to challenging herself on television. She triumphed in the inaugural series of Bear Grylls: Mission Survive in 2015, and was due to take part in The Jump in 2017 – where she encountered Spencer – but withdrew following an injury.
Since then, she has featured on programmes including Vogue Williams – Wild Girls and Strictly Come Dancing’s 2024 Christmas special. She is also set to feature on Gladiators Celebrity Special on Christmas Day from 3.35pm on BBC One.
