In Ben’s first confessional, he reveals that he “met Captain Jason” just a week before the charter began. He said, “I took her to Outback Steakhouse for lunch, because she’s Australian. It’s the only Australian place I know.”
The chance meeting could not have come at a better time. As Jason explains, “My chef left his job right before the season, and Ben was the first solution that came to mind.”

In fact, Ben had recently ended his engagement, so the job offer couldn’t have come at a better time. Ben tells producers, “(Jason) needed a chef, and I needed an escape.” “I thought, ‘Why not?’ In short, we saved each other. “This could be the perfect little distraction.”
Just over a year ago, Chef Ben hinted that he might be interested in returning to the Below Deck franchise. The witty Briton debuted in Season 1, but left after four seasons to pursue grassroots opportunities. But after being on the shore for some time, he suggested that she could be taken back out to sea.
In a special Watch What Happens Live after show called Hotties & Hotties, Ben told Andy Cohen, “As long as there’s a shorter season, I would definitely consider it. I would. I’m ready. I’m OK.”
