The Tesla founder said on X that Christopher Nolan has lost his integrity by casting a black actress for the role of Helen of Troy in the upcoming film The Odyssey. According to casting gossip the character is described as a beautiful, fair-skinned white woman.
Sunny made a bold statement on Tuesday, saying, “In my view, he (Elon) is a racist.” Sunny says the world’s richest man has trafficked in white supremacy online for a long time.
Elon Musk denies rumors Lupita Nyong’o was cast in The Odyssey
Elon Musk may not be among those eagerly awaiting the opening of The Odyssey. After learning that Lupita Nyong’o would play Helen, she expressed her disappointment online. Lupita is a black Mexican actress best known for films such as 12 Years a Slave.
While Elon has a problem with that casting choice, Sunny had a message for the head of Twitter: “There is no standard of beauty,” Sunny said. She adds that “it doesn’t have to be a white person to play this role.” To Sunny, Elon is “a white supremacist”. According to Sunny, the longtime supporter of the president sparked controversy in early January by calling for white solidarity. She further says that Elon claimed that if white people became a minority they could be exterminated.
Sunny was not the only host to express her displeasure over Elon’s post. Whoopi Goldberg also said that she doesn’t understand why Elon is making such a big deal out of it. He suggested that if people were concerned about their appearance, they should look in the mirror.
The billionaire has spoken publicly about the film industry before. In December, he claimed to be the inspiration for Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. The Odyssey, which is currently in post-production, will be released in theaters across the US in July.
