Captain Jason is a sympathetic and fair captain. So fans might be giving him a pass for misunderstanding Gasly’s situation. He also reflected on how he may have raised chef Ben Robinson’s expectations when he told him that Alessia Harris was a sous-chef.
Chef Ben Robinson and Alecia Harris don’t get along at BDDU
In Season 4, Episode 3 of Below Deck Down, Alessia resigns from her role as sous chef and moves to the interior department to become a stew. This comes after bumping heads with Ben in the galley and an argument after a night out.
Alessia had already expressed her disappointment to Captain Jason. However, he asked them to reconsider leaving the galley. To chief stew Daisy Kelliher, the Australian native said, “I’m a little disappointed that Alessia can’t toughen up for a while.”
but for bravo The Daily DishHe admitted that watching the episode completely changed his mind. Jason explained, “I didn’t really have much empathy and understanding of the situation until I watched the episode. At the time, I said, ‘Come on. Let’s just get into it…’ Looking back now, you can see that she was predicting the future. It was not going to be an easy workplace environment for her.”
“I said, ‘You must have a good chef.’ So, he’s probably coming in there with some expectations,” Jason explained to The Daily Dish. “He hasn’t been in this environment for a while, and now he has a good chef who isn’t working, and he’s probably wondering what’s going on out there, and he’s probably thinking that (there are) obstacles put in front of him.”
