season 15 of real housewives of beverly hills could have been a newbie Amanda Francis’ time to shine. Instead, she is feuding with Dorit Kemsley and feeling misunderstood by the group. Thankfully, Kyle Richards and Erika Jayne understood that Amanda was trying to find her place in the group.
However, Amanda’s inability to display friendly behavior with the rest of her co-stars led to rumors that Amanda had reportedly left filming. And then RHOBH went away. Naturally, Amanda immediately shot down the rumors via social media and insisted, “Haha, that’s not true.” Still, Amanda remained tight-lipped about her cult relationship.
Amanda Francis was “cut off from people” while in a cult
Once Dorit revealed that Amanda belonged to a cult, the RHOBH women were obsessed with her. However, Amanda repeatedly promised details… later. During RHOBH Season 15 Episode 10, Erica finally asked Amanda for the scoop.
According to Amanda, she was involved in a Christian youth group in high school. When a man in that group started his own church in Florida, Amanda followed him. Amanda told Erica, “But the longer I was there, the more controlling things became. So, he tells people who to marry, who to date, who to be friends with.”
When a producer asked if Amanda felt like “the church is trying to separate you from your family,” Amanda replied, “Absolutely. My whole agenda was not to get in trouble, not to get called into the pastor’s office….”
She added, “Before you know it, you’re isolated. You’re controlled. You’re cut off from people. Well, you’re giving money to the church.” After a year and a half, Amanda said she “started thinking about myself. Call home.” He added, “Eventually I had to drop the balls.” Therefore, on October 31, 2008, Amanda moved to her sister’s house and left the group.
Eventually, Amanda realized she wanted more from life. “I’m going to make my own money, and I’m going to help people,” she said.
