National Police Association spokesperson and retired police sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith provided an update fox news Regarding the case of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, the kidnapper fears returning to the crime scene. Additionally, Smith claimed that investigators may still be looking at the area without clearing it.

“They can (keep an eye on the monument), we’re not looking at it,” he explained, adding, “They can keep an eye on it, but we’re not looking at the cameras.”

A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department told the outlet, “Detectives are reviewing all viable leads in this case. We don’t speak to specifics, as this is still an ongoing investigation.” Meanwhile, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects, vehicles or persons of interest.

Smith claimed that a suspect could return to the scene, saying, “Potentially, he is the type of person who could return to the monument, look at the monument, even take photographs of the monument and add himself to the monument.”
