On the March 17 episode of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart criticized Donald Trump for the alleged seizure of oil ships unable to pass through the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing Iran war. During the segment, Stewart played a clip from Fox News in which the outlet asked the President about rising oil prices. The outlet then displayed Trump’s quotes on the screen. It read, “These ships should pass through the Strait of Hormuz and show some courage, there is nothing to fear… They have no navy, we sank all their ships.”

The comedian then said animatedly, “Show some courage, Captain Phillip. I know you wouldn’t want to travel through the most active war zone on Earth in the slowest moving vehicle on Earth, filled with the most flammable liquid on Earth.” “But on the other hand,” the Emmy-winning host said before mimicking and crowing like a chicken, mocking the president. Then he said, “What are we, what are we doing?”

Trump wasn’t the only one mocked by the host. Earlier he had also made fun of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. At a recent press conference, Hegseth said, “The only thing restricting transit in the strait at this time is Iran firing on shipping. It is open to transit, should Iran not do so.”

Stewart reacted to the clip with disbelief, pausing for a few seconds. He then joked, “Aside from Epstein, it’s a wonderful island.” He explained that ships cannot take this route because they are being attacked, which invites massive risk.
