Sarah Michelle Gellar Excited About “Dream Job”

On Saturday, August 3, Sarah Michelle Gellar shared her thoughts on her new role in the upcoming TV show “Dexter: Original Sin” at Comic-Con. The actress is thrilled to play a strong female character in this prequel to the popular Dexter series.

Gellar is known for playing tough women on screen. Her most famous role was Buffy Summers in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Now, she’s taking on a new challenge as Tanya Martin, a scientist in “Dexter: Original Sin.”

The actress talked to Variety about her character. She joked, “I’m the scientist. You believe me as a scientist, right? I do science-y things.” Gellar is excited about this role because it’s different from what she’s done before.

The new show is set in the 1990s. Gellar plays a forensics expert at the Miami Metro Police Department. This kind of job was rare for women at that time. Gellar explained, “I’m used to playing these formidable women, and she’s no exception, but she’s almost an even bigger exception because women didn’t run departments in those jobs.”

She added that women didn’t usually run science departments, especially in Miami. Gellar said her character had to be tough to work with the men in her field. However, the actress herself enjoyed being the only woman on set. She called it her “dream job.”

Other cast members also talked about the show. Christian Slater, Molly Brown, and Patrick Gibson were there too. They discussed why Dexter is popular again. The original show aired from 2006 to 2013 on Showtime. Now, it’s back on top of the Nielsen charts.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is a prequel. It tells the story of what happened before the original show. Slater, who plays Dexter’s father, said, “It definitely compliments the original show, but it also gives more insight into those characters… even Dexter didn’t know certain things had happened prior to him being born.”

The new show is connected to the original, but it’s also different. Slater said they have the freedom to explore new ideas. Patrick Gibson plays young Dexter in the prequel. Michael C. Hall played Dexter in the original series. Gibson said he wanted to bring something new to the character.

Gibson talked about his conversations with Hall about playing Dexter. He said, “This incarnation of Dexter exists before anything I did. It belongs to him — not that he needs me to tell him that.”

Fans of the original Dexter series are excited to see this new take on the story. With a strong cast and interesting characters, “Dexter: Original Sin” promises to be an exciting addition to the Dexter universe.

The show’s premiere date hasn’t been announced yet. But with the buzz from Comic-Con, fans are eagerly waiting to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and the rest of the cast in action. It looks like “Dexter: Original Sin” will give viewers a fresh look at a familiar world.
