Donald Trump recently lashed out at a reporter when asked about the cost of the new White House ballroom project. On May 12, the US President announced that his new project had “doubled” the size, while still being “under budget”. Hearing this, when a reporter drew attention to the rising costs, Trump was not very happy.
“We have a ballroom that is under budget. I have doubled the size of it because we obviously need it,” Trump told reporters before leaving for China. “And we’re on budget, under budget and ahead of schedule right now.”
Upon learning of the size of the ballroom, when questioned by a reporter whether the cost had doubled, Trump said, “I doubled the size, you fool! Doubled the size,” he said. “You are not a smart person.”

He even addressed the cost of the project on Truth Social, writing that “The original price was $200 million, a double-sized, highest quality completed project would be just under $400 million. It would be luxurious, safe, and secure.”
