Whoopi Goldberg There is a new idea to deal with the controversy surrounding Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. During a recent episode of “Scene,” The longtime moderator suggested that someone should consider legal action over the troubled renovation project involving Donald Trump.
The conversation came as an ABC panel discussed reports of algae growth, peeling paint and ongoing issues at the historic Washington, D.C., landmark following renovation work that has drawn criticism in recent weeks.
Monday’s episode of “The View” The condition of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool came under fire after photos emerged showing workers battling algae blooms and visible deterioration in parts of the renovation.
While checking out photos from the site, Whoopi Goldberg initially struggled to contain her amusement.
At one point, he joked that the workers standing in the water looked as if they were fishing. But as the discussion turned to the cost and status of the project, the laughter soon gave way to disappointment.
Goldberg declared, “I want someone to sue.” “Because if a contractor did that to your house, you would do the same.”
The television personality argued that taxpayers would likely demand accountability if a private contractor produced similar results.
“I think the country needs to say, ‘We’re suing you. We’re suing you for doing this without our permission, and we’re suing the people who did it, because clearly they didn’t know what they were doing.’ Clearly!” Goldberg said.
He later softened the comment a bit, saying, “But, you know, it’s just a suggestion. Because a lot of money is going away.”
This discussion was triggered in part by Donald Trump’s recent comments in which he blamed vandals for the damage done to the Reflecting Pool. According to Goldberg, the explanation didn’t cut it.
“I feel like if he hadn’t messed with the pool, it would still be a reflecting pool instead of a liquid forest,” she joked.
Goldberg also questioned claims that a small group of individuals were responsible for the site’s current state, saying he had seen no evidence to support those allegations.
This passionate exchange quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the episode, proving once again that when The View deals with politics, the conversation rarely stays quiet for long.
