Kamie Crawford
Kamie Crawford has yet to speak directly to her Catfish co-host Nev Schulman following his severe neck injury, but she sent her love and support in another way.
“I know he’s on the road to recovery, and that’s amazing,” Crawford, 31, exclusively shared with Us Weekly at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, September 11. “I’m wishing him a quick recovery. Neck injuries are no small matter.”
“Thankfully, they are stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a concern at first, but the human body is resilient, and so are HUMANS,” Schulman posted on Instagram last month. “It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I think of those who have similar injuries and may never walk again.”
Crawford’s Immediate Reaction
Upon hearing about Schulman’s accident, Crawford was understandably concerned for her longtime colleague.
“I immediately thought, ‘Thank goodness he’s alive. How soon can I send flowers?’” she told Us. “So, I sent him flowers immediately and hope he’s back to full health very soon.”
Following his accident, Schulman underwent emergency spinal surgery and has been focusing on rehabilitation ever since.
“It’s been two weeks since I broke my neck and had spine surgery. Just wanted to give you all a quick update,” Schulman shared in an Instagram video on August 20. “As you can see, I’m up and about, doing some neighborhood walks as recommended by my physical therapist to keep moving.”
‘Catfish’ on Hiatus Amid Schulman’s Recovery
As Schulman continues his recovery, Catfish has been put on hold.
“We’re in the same boat as everyone else, waiting to hear more,” Crawford said. “We’re hopeful, but Nev’s recovery is now the top priority.”
Schulman has been hosting and producing Catfish since 2012, helping countless individuals uncover the truth behind their online relationships. Crawford joined the show in 2018, taking over from Max Joseph.
“It’s hard to believe I’ve been hosting for six years now,” Crawford reflected on the red carpet. “It feels like I just started yesterday, but our progress is incredible. The show is still as exciting as ever.”
She added, “The fact that we get to help so many people along the way is the most rewarding part.”
