During the episode, the rapper revealed that his mother didn’t want him to be with anyone else but the “Stay” singer, even when the two artists were just friends.

A$AP Rocky shared that his mother, Renee Black, was supportive of his romantic relationship with Rihanna because she thought the “Work” singer was “real.” The “Sundress” rapper recently appeared as a guest on The New York Times’ “Popcast.” During the episode, he revealed how finding a partner like the “Umbrella” singer changed his life. The rapper shared that his mother wanted to see him in a romantic relationship with Rihanna, even when they were just friends.
A$AP Rocky expressed, “My mom used to say, ‘I know you like this girl you’re with right now.'” The rapper continued what his mom said, “‘I won’t say any names — but I want you with RiRi.'” He continued, “It’s like, ‘Mom, why do you keep saying that? That girl doesn’t want me like this either.” The rapper then insisted, ‘Mother knows best.’
Meanwhile, in the new “Popcast” episode, A$AP Rocky added, “I’m grateful that (Rihanna) was put in my life at that time.” The rapper continued, “Because any time before that, I don’t think I was prepared for something like this.”
He then added, “I don’t think she was either.” During the episode, the rapper also revealed that Rihanna was always his “boo”. “We were on the same page. Born in the same year. My father is from their country,” he said. “When I go back, I get to see both sides of my family,” he said.
