Elliott wrote a touching tribute to the show and its fans on Instagram. “To everyone who loved us, we love you back just as much,” Elliott wrote on Monday, October 5.
The “Drop Dead Diva” alum also shared a photo of herself with Margarita. This was a weekly tradition where Dana Sue, Helen and Maddie “poured it out”. Special nights included shared gossip over cocktails.
Elliott starred as Dana Sue Sullivan on the show alongside Heather Hadley and Joanna Garcia Swisher. Based on the novels by Sheryl Woods, the series explores the romance, careers and family of three women in Serenity, SC.
Justin Bruening, who played Maddy’s love interest Cal Maddox, also shared a farewell message. “To our cast and crew: I will miss every single one of you! It was because of you that every day I went to work didn’t feel like work, it was an absolute joy. We had something truly special that set the bar very high for the future and set us apart. I am grateful and honored to have known you,” the actor wrote.
He also mentioned that saying goodbye to the cast, crew, and fans at home “is the hardest part of the whole thing.” “Sweet Magnolias” debuted in 2020 and quickly gathered a dedicated fanbase, supporting the trio of women throughout the series.
