Tatiana is the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated during his tenure. She was an environmental journalist who published the book Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environment You Don’t Know You Have in 2019. In an essay published in the New York Times last month, the mother announced that she was dying of myeloid leukemia. Tatiana’s daughter was Caroline KennedyThe only surviving child of JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Caroline’s worst fear has now become a reality. John F Kennedy Library Foundation Instagram Page announced Tatiana’s death, saying, “She will always be in our hearts.” The journalist received her diagnosis after a blood test taken after the birth of her daughter in May 2024. She and her now widower, George Moran, had two children, including their son Edwin, aged three.
Tatiana spent five weeks in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy and had two bone marrow transplants. Stem cells were also donated by his sister Rose Schlossberg. According to Tatiana, during the clinical trials the doctor told her that he could probably keep her alive for a year. She says that due to her condition she could not take care of her daughter as there was a risk of spreading the infection.
His death is another in the long list of Kennedys who died young. His grandfather JFK was shot and killed at the age of 40, as was his great-grandfather Robert F. Kennedy was also shot and killed. His uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. was 38 when he died in a plane crash. In October, the late Ted Kennedy’s first wife, Joan Bennett Kennedy, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89. Tatiana was 35 years old.
