On Tuesday, White House correspondent Katie Rogers asked him about the money that will reportedly be given to citizens. In response, Donald was confused and did not know when he had made this promise. This statement was made on the President Truth social account in November. He described opponents of the tariffs as fools and claimed that America was the richest and most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation. He promised income from tariffs.

Politicians make promises without thinking and obviously it is not so easy to keep track of them. The president promised Americans in November they would get $2,000 in tariff checks. As Katie was trying to refresh her memory, Donald interrupted her, saying, “Well, I gave $1,776 to the Army.” However, that particular pledge was for a Warrior Dividend Check. The President and the Defense Department sent that money to millions of American service members.
While he claimed the checks were being cut from tariff revenues, it later emerged that those funds were taken from a provision of the Big Beautiful Bill given to the Pentagon to finance basic allowances for housing. The President was again pressed on when the tariff money would arrive. After initial hesitation he replied, “I would say at the end of the year.”
The President said the money was coming from other sources. He further said that he does not believe it would have to go through Congress first. In December, comedian Jimmy Kimmel questioned the President’s cognitive health and described him as extremely unhealthy. Donald claims to have passed his mental tests.
