During Wednesday’s meeting, Trump expressed over the Supreme Court’s decision that issued nearly $175 billion in tariff refunds. POTUS said, “The courts in this country, the bad courts, are costing us enormous amounts of money,” adding, “And the Supreme Court of the United States, that’s right, has cost our country.” He added, “They just needed a punishment. Our country, hundreds of billions of dollars, and they couldn’t care less. They couldn’t care less.”
Trump called out Barrett and Gorsuch directly, saying, “And not that it matters, it doesn’t matter at all. But the people who voted for the people I appointed, and they upset me.” The president said, “They make me nervous. Because they’re bad for our country.”
This is not the first time Trump has launched an attack against the court. Shortly after the February ruling that found Trump’s emergency tariffs illegal, the president said, “I am ashamed, absolutely ashamed, at certain members of the Court for not having the courage to do what is right for our country.”
He further said that the judges who voted against him were “Republicans in name only) and fools and sycophants to the radical left’s Democrats.”
