On Saturday, US military forces launched a “large-scale” attack on Iran’s Kharg Island, the country’s major oil export hub. In a recent phone interview with nbc newsDonald Trump said that America could carry out more attacks on the island.
On Saturday morning, US Central Command confirmed that US forces had carried out “precision strikes” on 90 military targets, but exercised caution in “protecting oil infrastructure”. However, later during the interview, Trump said that “We completely demolished Kharg Island, but we might attack it a few more times just for fun.”
The President said, “We have completely destroyed it. Except, as you know, I have nothing to do with the energy lines, because it will take years to rebuild it.”
Trump also said he was asking “many countries affected by Iran’s shenanigans” to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil transportation. He said, “We are going to clear the strait very forcefully, and we are confident that we will join other countries that are somewhat hindered, and in some cases hindered, in getting oil.”
During the interview, POTUS further announced that he is not willing to make any deal with Iran to end the war. Iran wants to make a deal, and I don’t want to do that because the terms are not good enough right now.” Trump said the terms of any potential deal to end the conflict would need to be ”very concrete.”
