Created by David E. Kelly and based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 fantasy novel of the same name, the show focuses on the journey of Margo Millet. The daughter of a Hooters waitress and an ex-professional wrestler, she becomes involved in an erotic affair with her junior college English professor, which results in her becoming pregnant. To support herself, Margo turns to OnlyFans and soon becomes a star in the adult content industry.
After Apple TV revealed the first photos of the Elle Fanning-led series DecemberIt also got a new look in a special cover elle magazine.
Fanning said of Thorpe’s novel, “When you read the book, you fall very much in love with these characters – they are so vividly portrayed.” He also gave details about the opening scene, which begins with his character’s voiceover. He said, “The beginning of a novel is like a first date. That’s what you want. The writer came straight to you in the darkness of your twisted mind and kissed your neck.”
Interestingly, Fanning becomes the second actress to star in a series focused on OnlyFans, after playing Sydney Sweeney in Euphoria Season 3. In addition to them, Margo’s Got Money Troubles also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Margo’s mother, Nick Offerman as Margo’s father, and Nicole Kidman as a former pro wrestler and friend of Offerman’s character.
Describing her show, Kelly said, “It’s a positive story… I read about the book that it had real social realism mixed in with the absurdity. And that’s just a juicy cocktail.”
Meanwhile, Margo’s Got Money Troubles will debut the first three chapters of its eight-episode slate on April 15, 2026, on Apple TV+.
