Stranger Things season 5 episode 8 script delayed

Matt and Ross argue in the documentary as the writers attempt to assist in the show’s finale. The team could not agree on an ending for Millie Bobby Brown’s character Eleven, who would ultimately die in the series finale.
Matt raved, “The longer it goes on, the more stories you have to tie in and the more character arcs you have to flesh out. The more expectations there are with the audience. How do you meet those expectations but still surprise the audience?”
The lack of an ending caused problems during filming. To create costumes, special effects and set design, the crew needed Matt and Ross’s input, as there was no final script. Matt said, “It’s not that we don’t know what the ending will be. It’s all plotted out. I just have to write it. We’re short on time. I used to work seven days a week and I can’t do that anymore. Now I have two kids and I’m just…it’s a tough career with kids.”
In the documentary, the crew discusses the issue of building a set without a script. A crew member says, because the final script will not be available in time, the plan is based on conversations with Matt and Ross.
Due to weather, Episode 8 had to be filmed before the script was completed. Ross said, “It was one of the toughest writing situations we’ve ever found ourselves in. Not just because we were under pressure to make sure the script was good, but there’s never been so much noise at the same time.”
Matt says, “We went into production without a finished script for the finale. It was scary because we wanted to get it right. It was the most important script of the season.”
