Jeezy Denies Jeannie Mai
Rapper Jeezy has firmly denied the abuse allegations leveled against him by his estranged wife, Jeannie Mai, as their divorce battle intensifies. The allegations surfaced in court documents filed by Mai on April 25th in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court.
The documents state that “the safety and well-being of the minor child while in the care and custody of her father has been of utmost concern to Mother since she first learned that father was seeking a divorce.” The filings detail specific instances when Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, allegedly abused Mai.
One incident allegedly occurred in Miami in January 2022, the same month their daughter Monaco was born. According to the documents, Jeezy “hurled insults at [Mai] and struck her with a closed fist across her cheekbone and eye, causing a subconjunctival hemorrhage” when she tried to leave a car they were in.
Three months later, in April 2022, Jeezy allegedly choked Mai from behind as she was going up the stairs at the San Francisco Ritz Carlton.
Jeezy has vehemently denied the allegations, stating E! News on April 25th. “The allegations are not only false but also deeply disturbing, especially coming from someone I loved,” he said. “This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is ridiculous. It’s disheartening to witness the manipulation and deceit at play, and at this time, my main concern is being an active father to our daughter as I continue to fight for court-mandated joint custody. Rest assured, the truth will prevail through the proper legal channels.”
The couple’s divorce proceedings began in September 2022 when Jeezy filed documents citing their marriage as “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.” Mai addressed the breakdown of their relationship in a November 2022 interview with Jennifer Hudson, saying, “I think I’m doing better now. At the time when I found out, you know, at the same time as the rest of the world that my marriage was ending in divorce, I was gutted. So yeah, today it’s about picking up the pieces, it’s about discovering me and being a mom to the best blessing in my life, my little girl, you know, accentuating the absolute in the beauty in life. I think even though this year I met the most broken version of me, I also met the strongest version of me.”
