Lindsey Vonn is recovering from a dramatic accident during the Winter Olympics

British journalist Dan Walker wrote a long social media post Today, Lindsay is being credited for being courageous in competing despite her injury. He wrote, “I think his attitude is the essence of the game. It wasn’t just about chasing glory… it was about defiance.” “This is what the game looks like when you take the polish off. It’s not comfortable… It’s painful. Risk rather than safety. Vonn knew she couldn’t win. She knew it could hurt. She understood the risk. She accepted it because not going down that mountain would mean surrendering to the things that keep you from getting out of bed in the morning.”
“She knows she will always be a winner,” he concluded, along with a trophy emoji, wishing her a speedy recovery.
Lindsay crashed just 13 seconds into her women’s downhill race. A helicopter immediately airlifted him to an Italian hospital. Ca’ Fonsello Hospital said in a statement Sunday that Lindsay “underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilize a fracture in her left foot.” It confirmed that he was “being treated by a multidisciplinary team.”
“He is in stable condition and in good hands with a team of American and Italian physicians,” the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team reported. Anouk Patty, head of sport for US Ski and Snowboard, said, “She’ll be fine, but it’s going to be a bit of a process. This sport is brutal, and people have to remember that when they’re watching (that) these athletes are throwing themselves down a mountain and going really, really fast.”
