It’s the most wonderful time of the year. We’ve reached the Maid Gala portion of this season of Married to Medicine, and I couldn’t be more excited for the chaos to come. married to medicine Season 12 Episode 9 “Med Gala Payback” ushered in a new era for Dr. Jackie’s program, and Toya, of all people, is on top.
Before diving in, the ladies had to complete their cast trip to Miramar Beach, Florida, where Dr. Contessa felt like mending some broken friendships in the group. When we last left, Dr. Heavenly made a deal with his “unruly” enemy, Dr. Simon. It remains to be decided whether the ceasefire will be able to remain on good terms or not.
What happened in Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 9?

After Heavenly and Simone kissed and made up, the women went on a sunset trip around Miramar Beach to end their Florida trip. Immediately after returning home to Atlanta, Jackie and Toya began the process of planning the Maid Gala. As in previous years, things soon took a suspicious turn.
Dr. Heavenly hosts a town hall at sea

Famously, M2M casts cannot be trusted on boats. Things always go off the rails. Sometimes people go off track. With that in mind, we were absolutely terrified when Contessa started gathering ladies for a sunset cruise.
Luckily, this boat trip was a little different from the rest. There was no fighting, and no ancestors coming out of the woodwork. Instead, they danced all night, and Heavenly decided to host a “town hall” to get some practice for the campaign. It happened exactly as you would expect.
At one point, Jackie asked Heavenly to name her “political guru”. Heavenly replied, “Quad Webb-Lunsford”, completely forgetting that she hadn’t been a Lunsford for centuries. Sweet Tea is shaking her fist at a TV somewhere right now.
Brandi asked Heavenly why a constituent should trust her in the office, given her dirty history as a reality star. Heavenly explained that there are people in the office who have done very bad things. Heavenly said at least he’s not a criminal! The bar for becoming a politician is not that high in the United States.
Either way, the women of M2M are having a hard time paying attention to Heavenly’s campaign. Even when he tried to answer policy questions honestly, he faced ridicule and oblique comments. No one thinks he’s “political” enough to sit in Congress. We hope she can prove them all wrong in November.
Women unite in support of Quad after he shares his heartbreaking IVF update
Contessa was really hoping for a group bonding moment during this girls’ trip, and she finally got it in the final moments of the trip, albeit in heartbreaking fashion. The women were having their final breakfast in Florida when Quad interrupted things to share their IVF news. She told women it doesn’t work.
Quad burst into tears while telling the women this news. She felt guilty for not freezing her eggs even though Jackie had advised her to do so years earlier. It’s a devastating, but incredibly vulnerable conversation for these women and Quad to have in front of all the cameras. She is sad that she may have missed her path to becoming a biological mother.
Years ago, Quad said she wanted “trust, bonds and real friendship” from her M2M circle. He got it this week, just when he needed it most. The Miramar trip ended with everyone rallying around Quad while she cried over her fertility obstacles. They may not always get along, but everyone is on his side on this issue.
Cracks started appearing in the relationship between Quad and King

Back in Atlanta, Quad’s emotional rollercoaster continued when she sat down with King to update her on the Florida trip. It was painful to watch, and the writing is on the wall that something is going on in this relationship.
Of course, we already know that they’ve gone their separate ways since filming ended, but in this episode, it was clear that their relationship had hit a rough patch. He didn’t want to hear about the trip to Florida. He did not want to give her even a piece from his fish plate. They’re no longer having sex 15 times a week. This is a downward spiral.
Quad admitted that he feels like their relationship lacks “heat”. She’s finally starting to hear what King has been screaming: IVF has put a strain on their relationship.
After considering all things, the Quad decided to put a stop to the IVF process. Instead, she said she wanted to focus on reuniting with King. She wanted to “put something back” into their relationship. We see how it happened.
Made Gala has a new chairperson

The real meat of episode 10 revolves around the maid gala, and it’s the kind of mess we love to see on this show. If you’re new here, Jackie has been hosting the show for the last two years. It is considered a way to bring the medical community together for fundraising. It’s a good cause, but to get there they have to face a lot of trouble. This year is no different.
In the past, Toya had made no contribution to the ceremony, talking a big game from the confessional chair. She criticizes the event without lifting a finger to help, so Jackie decides to get a little revenge by inviting Toya to be president this year. She wanted Toya to experience how challenging it could be to participate in the program.
While the women were still in Miramar, you could see that Toya was already beginning to crack under the pressure. However, once he returned to Atlanta, he felt ready to jump into action. With Jackie’s blessing, they decide to turn Made Gala into a legitimate foundation that can help them recruit corporate sponsors and legitimize the annual event. This is a wise move, but this is where things started to get suspicious.
Toya wants to prepare in full force for Made Gala
Apparently, everyone in Atlanta is launching a scrub line this time, because just a few episodes after Angel’s scrub line launch party, Jackie turns up and reveals she has a scrub line, too. She tapped Toya, Heavenly, Contessa and Quad to shoot a commercial for it. Unfortunately for Jackie, it was put off a bit by Toya’s announcement about the festivities.
At the photoshoot, Toya apologized for her past behavior regarding the Maid Gala. Then, he stressed the importance of the contribution of the entire M2M artist to the event. Additionally, she also broke the news that she has developed the annual event into a foundation.
Toya did not stop here. He built a website and Jackie hired him as CFO. She then introduced Heavenly as her marketing officer and told Quad that she could be the organization’s secretary.
Obviously, none of that information was good. Heavenly immediately intervened and told the women that they were going about it the wrong way. She also couldn’t understand why Jackie let Toya take on the leadership role when, in the past, she had refused to pay any money for it. Heavenly decides to upset Jackie by revealing what she said about Toya’s contribution to the event.
“Jackie said you were very difficult to work with and very unprofessional,” Heavenly told the group.
Did Jackie really say that? Possibly, according to the Contessa. Either way, there is no change in the fact that this event is out of the hands of Heavenly and the Quad. Jackie and Toya are moving forward with this new era of Made Gala, and everyone else needs to join in. Stay tuned to see if Heavenly and Quad accept their new status.
