Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 11 Recap: Toya Takes Charge of the Couple’s Trip

When one cast journey ends, another begins. In married to medicine Season 12 Episode 11, “What Happens in Jamaica Stays in Jamaica,” begins the annual couples trip led by Toya and Dr. Eugene.

As we learned in last week’s episode, this isn’t the only tradition Toya has taken on. She’s also the new chairwoman of the annual Maid Gala, and not everyone agrees with her new power.

What happened in Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 11?

Shortly after returning home from their girls’ trip to Florida, the ladies of Married to Medicine packed their bags once again for the annual couples trip. They’re going to Jamaica, Toya and Eugene are in charge, and some of the women are extremely concerned. Between Toya’s ongoing feud with half of the cast and her new responsibilities with Made Gala, is she really the right person to lead this trip?

In addition to being a nurse, a scrubs designer, and a former Basketball Wives star, Angel is also an actress. Did anyone else know this? The episode started with the M2M newbie bringing the ladies to the premiere of a movie called Sin in which he starred. We think this might be the only time anyone has seen this film in a theatre.

Before the screening, Dr. Simone tells the group that she and Cecil will not be responsible for planning the annual couples trip. They are on the verge of divorce again, so Simone knows she has no business leading this trip as she has in years past.

“Couples trips are meant to share experiences within a group to help strengthen your own relationship,” Simone explains in her confessional.

He said, “Since Cecil and I are struggling in our marriage, we just wanted to pass the baton to someone else who has the energy to put energy into other couples.”

Simone reveals that Toya and Eugene seem to be the next best candidates to lead the couple’s trip. Meanwhile, Toya was already busy planning things. He used ChatGPT to determine the location of his next trip. AI asked him to take the women to Jamaica.

Simone’s decision to put Toya and Eugene in charge of the annual couples trip is not well received. Immediately after hearing the news, Mimi began sharing her concerns. He felt that the person leading the trip should act as the “glue” for the friend group. Toya is a lot of things, but she’s not that.

“It makes me feel a little uncertain about the time we’re going to get,” Mimi said in the movie theater lobby.

Angel jumps in, but is still upset about the whole Bernard situation that happened at the Physicians Family Reunion a few episodes ago. She’s holding on to that story for dear life and said she’s also feeling nervous that Toya will bring her “crazy negative energy” to the trip. Nevertheless, everyone booked their flights and left for Jamaica.

Eugene set some rules for couples’ travel

Toya and Mimi were not alone in their concerns. After all these seasons, everyone in this group knows that things get messy during these trips. Things are like that.

With this in mind, Eugene tried to start the trip with a few rules. He called it the pledge of friendship and compared it to the pledge of allegiance. He said he wanted to read the pledge to “set the tone” for the trip before anyone even got to his hotel room. Everyone keep your hand on your heart.

“We, the friends and couples who are going on this special trip, pledge to foster an environment of kindness, respect and harmony,” Eugene read from his notes app.

The group seemed to agree. He lost them when he started talking about punishment for breaking vows.

“Any instances of meanness, pettiness or disruptive behavior will result in consequences such as being sent to your room for a rest period,” Eugene said.

We understand where he’s coming from, but obviously, it’s not realistic. What are they supposed to do on a trip, without the slightest bit of pettiness, pettiness or disruptive behavior? Sit around and stare at each other? This is not The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!

Dr. Heavenly and Toya clash over Maid Gala

The next day, after a wild night at the club, Toya and Dr. Heavenly were the first two people to break their friendship pledge. Who could have predicted this? All this happened while the women set out on a “medical mission” set up by the king’s cousin.

On the bus ride to the mission, Dr. Jackie tells Brandi about the annual Med Gala and how Toya got involved. In typical Jackie style, she tried to explain the real reason why Toya is in the lead this year.

“We have had the last two years of Made Gala,” Jackie said. “This year, we thought Toya would make a great chairperson for Made Gala 3.”

“We didn’t think so,” Heavenly interjected. “We thought this would teach him a lesson!”

Everything went downhill from there. As we saw at Jackie’s photoshoot last week, Heavenly won’t let on about how “difficult” Toya was during previous ceremonies. She’s still adamant about the fact that Toya and Eugene donated cases of wine instead of giving cash.

As the bus reached the community center, where a group of underprivileged children were waiting for them, Heavenly continued to press Toya. Eugene called out. It was messed up, and we think they all violated the pledge.

“You’d do better by apologizing and saying, ‘You know what we were doing wrong,'” Heavenly yelled on the bus.

Eugene replied, “We will never apologize for this.”

At first, it seemed extremely unlikely that Heavenly and Toya would be able to safely exit this bus and proceed with the medical mission. Tensions became worse when Damon tried to stop the fighting and lead the group in prayer.

Miraculously, he resolved the matter. Maybe it was because they heard the innocent laughter of Jamaican children just outside the bus. Anyhow, Toya leads them in prayer, and they walk into the community center as if nothing ever happened.

When they reached inside, the king’s cousin welcomed them. The two of them helped organize the event, where they gave sanitary products and other essentials to local children facing poverty. It’s a reminder that there’s more to Jamaica than just fancy resorts.

Every artist contributed to make this event a success. Jackie talked about girl power. Steve practiced soccer with some kids. Late accidentally abused in front of children. It was all very heart-touching.

No matter how dirty the M2M ladies get, you can always count on seeing them coming together for a good cause. They manage to do it at least once a season, and we love watching it. However, next week, it looks like they are returning to their regularly scheduled schedule.

married to medicine Airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
