Martin Short has reportedly postponed his upcoming show following the death of his daughter. The comedian was originally scheduled to share the stage with his Only Murders in the Building co-star Steve Martin this weekend. A representative of Short has spoken Entertainment WeeklyConfirming that the show has been pushed back.
“Due to unexpected circumstances, Steve Martin and Martin Short’s shows on February 27 in Milwaukee and February 28 in Minneapolis have been postponed,” the rep said. “Tickets will be honored for a rescheduled date in the future.”
According to the duo’s official tour dates, Martin and Short are next scheduled to perform on March 13 in Washington, DC. New dates for the postponed shows have not been confirmed yet.
Martin Short’s daughter, Catherine, died on 23 February, aged 42. Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department confirmed that he died by suicide.
In an official statement released through a family representative, Shorts addressed the tragedy. “It is with deep sadness that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” the statement said. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and is asking for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be missed for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine Short worked as a licensed clinical social worker after earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies from New York University in 2006. Her death came nearly 16 years after her mother, Nancy Dolman, died of ovarian cancer.
Martin Short is also the father of two sons, Oliver and Henry Short.
