The Duchess of Sussex, 44, reveals that her curated mix is on constant play at her residence during the holiday season. In an Instagram video, Meghan is captured baking, snipping ribbons, and wrapping gifts at her Montecito mansion in California.
The caption shares: “All the sounds of the season. Here is my personal list of favourite holiday songs on rotation in our home this time of year. Wishing you a safe and cosy Christmas! Enjoy.” Her selection of 16 tunes features Ole Santa by jazz icon Dinah Washington from 1959, and Wham’s Last Christmas, which clinched the Christmas number one spot in 2023, almost four decades after its release. It was a close call this year with Kylie Minogue’s Xmas.
Topping Meghan’s list, and seemingly her preferred Yuletide track, is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. She favours a rendition by Norah Jones and Laufey from 2023, although various artists have covered this song since Judy Garland’s original.
In her video, Meghan is also seen pouring beverages, slicing charcuterie, whisking an egg, and writing on a chalkboard, seemingly gearing up for the festivities.
It is believed that Meghan and Prince Harry will enjoy a tranquil Christmas in Montecito with their children; six year old Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, aged four.
This marks the seventh year that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be absent from the Royal family’s Christmas celebrations, as the familial dispute continues.
The younger Royal sibling, aged 41, was once a prominent figure in the Sandringham festivities, including the traditional walk to the St Mary Magdalene Church service, but has been missing from the event since 2018.
However, the couple have resolutely kept the holiday cheer alive on social media this week, with entertaining videos, music playlists and even unveiling their family Christmas card.
It showcased the most distinct image yet of Archie and Lilibet, both born into the UK Royal family before the Sussexes’ relocation to the US.
