MrBeast and Amazon
Popular YouTuber MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, and Amazon Prime Video are facing a lawsuit filed by five anonymous contestants from the upcoming reality competition Beast Games. The lawsuit, filed on September 16, alleges that the contestants endured “chronic mistreatment,” including sexual harassment, lack of meal breaks, and unsafe working conditions during the series’ filming.
The highly anticipated show, which features 1,000 contestants competing for a $5 million grand prize, came under scrutiny earlier this year when several participants were hospitalized and more reported injuries sustained during production. The lawsuit seeks class-action status, aiming to represent all 1,000 participants and demand unpaid wages, reimbursement of expenses, and unspecified punitive damages from MrBeast and Amazon.
Allegations of Mistreatment and Harassment
The lawsuit claims that female contestants faced a particularly hostile environment, describing a culture of misogyny and sexism on set. One contestant, identified as Contestant 5, shared that she joined the competition as a fan of MrBeast’s content but felt disrespected and mistreated during filming. “I expected to be challenged, but I didn’t think I would be treated like nothing — less than nothing,” she said. Contestants allege that they were denied necessities, including food, sleep, medical care, and hygiene, and describe conditions as degrading,
The lawsuit seeks justice for contestants who feel exploited under gruelling conditions and questions the confidentiality provisions that prevent participants from speaking out. Contestants’ attorneys stated that while players were aware they signed up for a tough competition, they did not anticipate the level of mistreatment experienced during production.
