The idea began circulating online after Taylor was removed from Frankie Paul’s season in 2023 after footage of her physically attacking her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, was released by TMZ. Ilona described his support as the next leading lady as “very sweet” and revealed that she was open to the idea under one condition.

Ilona Maher spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the possibility of being chosen as the next Bachelorette.
“I was talking to Joey Graziadei about the only way to do it. He would have to executive produce,” she told the outlet on the red carpet for Hannah Montana’s 20th anniversary special.
Ilona met Joey on season 33 of Dancing with the Stars. The finalists developed a strong bond on the show and Ilona celebrated her victory in the final.
She detailed her vision for The Bachelorette in her interview with ET and said her season will bring comedic relief.
“It (will) be like an episode of The Office,” she said. “A guy would say something, and then I’d look at the camera (insert Jim Halpert’s face). And then it would be funny.”
Ilona concluded the interview by saying she was open to the idea and told the outlet, “Maybe. I don’t know.”
The Bachelorette is currently on hiatus after ABC canceled Taylor’s season, which was expected to air on Sunday, March 22. Disney Entertainment released a statement explaining their decision not to continue.
“In light of the new video released today, we have made the decision not to pursue a new season of ‘The Bachelorette’ at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.” read the statement.
The network hasn’t revealed plans for the show’s return, but we’re hoping Ilona is the one giving the rose.
