Colin Jost and Michael Che make fun of Kristi Noem for being fired from her job
Jost and Che made their debut episode Weekend update with news related to Kristi Noem’s firing as Homeland Security Secretary. Jost initially sarcastically questioned why he was fired, before saying, “Name at least 1 to 20 things he did wrong.” Noem’s dismissal comes as lawmakers in Congress have raised doubts about her leadership. She was also embroiled in controversy over her advertising campaigns and her adoption of strict immigration practices.
He then addressed issues for which Noem had made headlines, including Jost’s claim that he was an innocent Minneapolis protester who was shot and whom she called a domestic terrorist, as well as the issue of spending taxpayer money on ad campaigns. He even went as far as to mock her advertising campaign, where he believed she looked too similar to Jessie from Toy Story. “He’s very happy riding a horse in this. I’m sure his name is Corey Lewandowski,” he said, referring to his image from the ad campaign.
He then added, “Imagine being chosen as the worst member of Trump’s cabinet. It’s like someone coming to a party and saying, ‘We think you should leave. You’re making Didi uncomfortable.’ Che then followed up on the news presented by Jost, revealing that Noem had been appointed by Trump as America’s Special Envoy to the Shield. He then joked that the department is relatively new and based in the Farm Upstate.
