The video begins with director Peter Jackson sharing a quick update with fans about the next film in the franchise: Andy Serkis’s The Hunt for Gollum. Jackson praised Serkis and revealed that the project is “looking amazing” and that it is “going to be a really good movie.”
Jackson previewed his next film after The Hunt for Gollum with a “very special partner”. The next moment, a mysterious new man appeared on the screen, his face covered with a large book. The mysterious man puts the book down and reveals himself to be famous talk show host Stephen Colbert. The name of the new film is The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of the Past.
Colbert admitted that he was “very excited” to be writing the next film in the Lord of the Rings franchise. “You know what books mean to me and what your movies mean to me,” the 61-year-old told Jackson. According to Colbert, the film will include six chapters from the book that were not included in Jackson’s 2001 adaptation, The Fellowship of the Ring.
