Stephen Fishbach’s first book isn’t just for Survivor fans

Stephen, often known for his smart and strategic moves, set his book in a world with which he was already familiar.

So, the author set his novel on a reality show, giving readers behind-the-scenes access. “In the beginning, I wrote a draft that was entirely from the producer’s point of view,” explains Stephen. However, when he returned to school to pursue a graduate degree, a professor gave him a different idea.
“Recognizing that the interiority of the contestants was something that I had to give and that I hadn’t seen before, that’s when the book really took off for me,” the Survivor alum said.
The novel focuses on the lives and inspirations of people both in front of and behind the camera. “I’ve heard from a lot of people who have never seen an episode of reality TV that they’ve really enjoyed it, because it’s all about this human experience,” Stephen explains.
