In a hair-raising TikTok skit, Ryan Coogler, the mastermind behind The Sinners, undergoes a dark metamorphosis, emerging as a haunted sleep paralysis demon. In the creepy clip, a man resembling Coogler emerges from the shadows, and offers a cup of coffee to the sleep-deprived audience.

“So, we’re in your nightmare, right?” the Coogler lookalike asks. “Yes, yes, yes. We are in your nightmare. … Sometimes it can be a painful experience, isn’t it? Out of all the countless people you could have had as your monster, right? You chose me. So I’m forever grateful for this opportunity.”

Ryan Coogler’s The Sinners (2025) is a supernatural horror-thriller set in 1932 Mississippi. Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return home to escape the Chicago Mafia and start a juke joint. Soon they have to face a deadly evil that puts their lives in danger.

The critically acclaimed film is Oscar-bound with 16 nominations, including Best Picture and two wins for Coogler – Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Notably, the film has previously received accolades including BAFTA and National Board of Review awards.
