After almost 25 years, Tyra Banks There was a very clear feeling about Halloween: Resurrection: Not at all. The model and actor said the 2002 horror sequel is one of his least favorite films of his career.
Banks initially declined the Halloween franchise role. An agent changed his mind after Halloween H20 by pointing out Josh Hartnett’s career, making the sequel seem like a shortcut to bigger things.
Tyra Banks says she wasn’t sold on joining the ‘Halloween’ franchise
Entertainment Weekly Asked Banks if she looked forward to making Halloween: Resurrection. There was no room left for old memories in his answer. “No,” Banks said. “Not even a little bit. Like, not even a little bit.” She explained that she wanted acting roles that felt different from modeling.
His agent argued that Hartnett had received Halloween H20 before his career even began. Banks eventually agreed in the hopes that an eighth Halloween film could give him a similar boost. “So I was like, yes, okay, this is going to do it for me,” she recalled. Unfortunately, the film neither gave the career launch nor the death scene he had hoped for.
Banks played Nora, a producer who documents teenagers trapped inside Michael Myers’ childhood home. The film followed the group as they tried to escape from a killer during a live internet streaming show. Nora died, but the film cut the entire sequence. Viewers saw only a brief shot of her body, while a deleted scene later circulated online.
Banks found this particularly disappointing as she had hoped the death would become a memorable scary moment. Instead, she joked that she “was promised Josh Hartnett’s career as an actor, and was promised an iconic death scene that would last forever, and none of those things happened.” This left him with a long-lasting complaint. “So, I have a beef with Halloween 8!” she told the publication.
Halloween: Resurrection was not Banks’ only major screen credit. She appeared in Higher Learning in 1995, before starring in Coyote Ugly and Life-Size in 2000. She later returned for Life-Size 2 and had television roles on The Tyra Banks Show, America’s Next Top Model, and Bel-Air. She also appeared as a recurring judge on Project Runway.
Still, the Halloween franchise remained a chapter that Banks was happy to leave behind.
