protesters disrupted Donald Trump’s At least six rallies took place in Texas on Wednesday, forcing the president to stop mid-speech and walk away from the microphone as police cleared protesters from the San Antonio area. Additionally, a Trump supporter physically attacked another protester when he tried to leave.

Before the officers could escort him out, a man approached the stage. “He’s going back home to mom,” Trump said. “But he doesn’t know his mom voted for Trump.” Supporters wearing cowboy hats chanted “USA” to end the disruption, while the president told protesters to “get out of here” and claimed without evidence that he was “paid by the enemies of our country.”
Donald Trump visited Texas for the third time in less than a month to promote Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton, whom he endorsed over incumbent John Cornyn. Paxton thanked him from the stage: “Mr. President, I want to thank you for coming for me, for coming for us, and for coming for Texas. We are going to win this race.” Trump called Paxton “probably the greatest attorney general in the United States” and “a fantastic person.”
Furthermore, the Democrats have taken over the race. A New York Times/Siena College Poll Last weekend, Democrat James Tallarico was leading Paxton among likely voters, 51% to 45%. Texas has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988. Trump attacked Tallarico during the rally, repeatedly calling him “Tala-Freco” and claiming without evidence that he is a vegetarian and has recently disappeared. He also insisted that Texas voters would reject a “weak, weedy, self-loathing, transgender-promoting freak show.”
However, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Monday, his approval rating stands at 32%, with registered voters preferring the Democrats 44% to 37%. The president’s political difficulties in Texas were underlined by the absence of Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who attended a hospital dedication about 330 miles away.
