Love Island Star Molly-Mae Hague Regrets Getting Fillers, Calling It Her “Biggest Regret.” After Facing Intense Scrutiny and Online Bullying for Her Fillers, She Dissolved Them and Encouraged Self-Acceptance
Molly-Mae Love Island
Molly-Mae Hague, the former Love Island contestant and social media influencer, has been candid about her journey with cosmetic procedures, mainly fillers, since leaving the iconic Love Island villa in 2019. The 25-year-old reality star recently reflected on her experience with fillers, expressing regret over her decision to undergo the procedures.
In an Instagram story shared with her 7.8 million followers, Molly-Mae admitted that getting fillers was “one of her biggest regrets.” She revealed that she hasn’t had any filler in her face for nearly five years, describing her “filler debacle” and “filler scandal” as a “mad journey to reflect on.”
Love Island: Platform for Scrutiny
Molly-Mae’s scrutiny after leaving the Love Island villa was intense, especially regarding her appearance. “The trolling I got for that was really intense,” she said, referring to the backlash she received for her enhanced lips and facial features.
The reality star acknowledged that she had gone “overboard” with fillers, admitting, “I went too far. It was just a really, really bad time because I had literally come out of the villa, and that is the time you are most scrutinised.”
The “X-Box Controller” Incident
Molly-Mae’s regret stemmed from a viral moment when a screenshot of her “swollen” face following a filler procedure trended on Twitter (now known as X) for weeks. Then, she realized she needed to change, as she no longer recognized herself.
“I wouldn’t say I got addicted to it, but by the age of 21, I didn’t look like the same person,” Molly-Mae confessed. “I literally looked like a different person. When I look back at pictures now, I am terrified of myself.”
Reversing the Damage
Determined to reclaim her natural beauty, Molly-Mae courageously dissolved her lip and jaw fillers and removed her composite bonded teeth. She described the process as part of her “filler journey,” acknowledging the intense scrutiny she faced but also understanding why it happened.
“I have got most of the filler dissolved, obviously I used to get filler, and when I came out of Love Island, I got a little bit more filler,” she explained. “For me, that was the worst time for me coming out of the villa – the trolling I got for that was really intense.”
Love Island: Lesson Learned
Molly-Mae’s experience with fillers after Love Island is a cautionary tale for young individuals in the public eye. The pressure to conform to societal beauty standards and the desire to enhance one’s appearance can lead to decisions that may be regretted later.
Through her honesty and vulnerability, Molly-Mae has become a voice for self-acceptance and body positivity. Her journey reminds us that true beauty lies within and that external modifications should be approached with caution and self-awareness.
As Molly-Mae navigates her life in the spotlight, her willingness to share her struggles and regrets resonates with her fans and followers, inspiring them to embrace their authentic selves.
