New poll shows Donald Trump ranks third in favorability among US presidents

A study released on June 10 showed that Barack Obama was the most favorable president of recent times among Americans.

Pew Research Center pollWhich surveyed 10,357 American adults between November 17 and November 30, 2025, listed the presidents who did the best job over the past 40 years according to public attitudes.

Obama remained on top among all Americans by securing 36 percent votes. Ronald Reagan, who served in the Oval Office from 1981 to 1989, ranked second with 21 percent, while Donald Trump came third in the poll with 19 percent.

While most of Obama’s supporters were from the left-leaning faction, Republicans showed more division in their choices, supporting both Trump and Reagan. The most conservative factions participating in the survey primarily rallied behind the current US president, with Reagan receiving support from the more liberal segment of Republicans.

However, the survey ditched the traditional two-party category system and instead classified participants into nine different denominations. The far-right categories included groups such as ‘No Apology Right’ and ‘Faith First Conservatives’, the left included groups such as ‘Loyal Liberals’ and ‘Leftist Progressives’.

In such a situation, 63 percent of the ‘No Apology Right’ group in the poll declared Donald Trump the best president of the last 40 years, while 90 percent approved his performance. He also received a large number of votes from the ‘Faith First Conservatives’ group, with 52 percent choosing him as their top president of recent times.

Interestingly, contrary to the Pew Research Center study, a recent poll conducted in late May indicated record low approval ratings for Trump.
