russell brand has made a new claim about his family during his ongoing sexual assault trial. He claims that a hospital prevented him from meeting his newborn son during medical treatment after sexual assault allegations against him became public. The comedian is on trial at Southwark Crown Court on seven charges involving six women. He denies all the allegations.
Russell Brand claims he was barred from visiting his sick son in hospital
according to MetroBrand said hospital staff prevented him from being with his son while the child had open-heart surgery. He linked the alleged ban to media reports about sexual misconduct allegations against him in 2023.
“The reason Great Ormond Street Hospital refused permission when my son was having open heart surgery and subsequent treatment was because of the material published,” Brand told the court.
Brand said that hospital staff informed him and his wife Laura Gallacher that he could not be present during his son’s treatment. He also claimed that hospital staff did not clearly explain the legal basis for the ban.
Brand also reflected on how the allegations have affected his life. “My entire life has been ruined by these incidents, these allegations, these allegations,” he told the court.
Several complainants have testified during the ongoing trial. Women have accused Brand of a variety of sexual misconduct, including rape and sexual harassment. During the trial, a witness described an alleged victim’s account of appearing “possessed” by Brand during an incident. Another woman testified that Brand made her feel “like a piece of meat”. One commented on them “like a lizard” Tongue.
The judge recently directed the jury to acquit Brand of an indecent assault charge, citing insufficient evidence to support that count. However, the brand is still facing an amended charge arising from the same alleged incident. The jury will instead consider a charge of attempted indecent assault.
The brand made this claim while giving evidence in its defence. He is facing three cases of rape, three cases of sexual assault and one case of attempted indecent assault. The charges involve six women and relate to alleged incidents between 1999 and 2009.
