HGTV star says her teenage daughter has earned luxury car
While appearing on Nicole Lapin’s Money Rehab podcast on October 28, Tarek addressed the reactions to his daughter’s new car. The Flip or Flop star said, “She’s got a 4.2 GPA. She was the MVP of her freshman football team. She’s an absolutely amazing kid, and she didn’t just get it — she really earned it. And if you ask me, she deserved it because she worked really hard and didn’t even ask for that car.”
Tarek also clarified that Taylor did not request the luxury car. She also had no idea that he planned to buy one for her. According to him, his daughter would have been equally happy with the old Honda. However, he wanted to make sure he had a safe car. “That thing is built like a tank,” he said. Tarek said that safety was his biggest priority while choosing a car.
Former CNN and CNBC anchor Nicole Lapine also asked Tarek if he was worried that the expensive gift might ruin their daughter. “That’s true,” he replied. “She flew in private jets when she was 1 year old. So this kid has grown up around things. When I grew up, I didn’t have anything, okay? So I’m obsessed with things because I never had things. She always had things.”
He added, “If she had been a brat, she probably wouldn’t have gotten a 4.2 GPA, she probably wouldn’t have been the MVP of our football team, and she probably wouldn’t have done the extra coaching, right? To me, this is a reward for all the work she’s done.”
In August, Tarek, his wife Heather El Moussa and his ex-wife Christina Hack, who is Taylor’s mother, teamed up to surprise the teen with a luxury car. He shared a video of this special moment Instagram.
